"Rally for Rivers" reaches Chennai


A nationwide awareness rally to save our rapidly depleting rivers called "RALLY FOR RIVERS" entered Chennai on 10th of September after criss crossing important cities in Tamilnadu and Kerala.

The Rally which was flagged off at Coimbatore on 3rd September, reached Kanyakumari via Madurai on 4th September. The Rally then reached Trivandrum on the 5th of September for a public event and then travelled towards Trichy. He was received and welcomed by the farmers in Trichy.

At Chennai, a massive awareness meeting was organised at YMCA ground in which Chief Minister Edapadi Palanisamy, ministers, and other prominent citizens took part. Ministers KA Sengokkottaiyan O. Panneerselvam, and Pratap Reddy, Chairman Apollo Hospital were among many who took part and lent their support for the cause of interlinking rivers.



CM Edapadi Palanisamy speaking on the occasion said that his government would lend its support for the cause of interlinking rivers as it is vital to to revive agriculture in drought prone areas. 



A musical extravaganza by Usha Uthup and other singers was organised on the occasion.



Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, driving his own vehicle and is criss crossing the nation and is to hold awareness rallies in Andhra, Telengana, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Indoor, Bhopal Jaipur, Chandigarh, Hardwar and Delhi.
