S.P.Velumani, Minister for Municipalities inaugurated the release of water from Aliyar Dam for irrigation in Old Ayacut area in Pollachi taluk in the District.
The Minister speaking on the occasion said that 800 TMC of water will be released for the benefit of farmers for 120 days till January and it would benefit the farmers to raise their kharif crop in Aliyar, Kottur, and Anamalai and Pollachi Old Ayacut areas.
He also said that Avanashi Athikadavu project works have been kick started at a cost of Rs.250 crore and presently the the works are in progress.
