Petitioner intimidated by alleged encroacher, fears loopholes in CM cell

In what could a nasty seeping of confidential information about the petitioner of the Chief Minister’s Cell, a petitioner who had complained to the cell about an alleged illegal quarry in Sathyamangalam close to a tiger reserve is being constantly harassed by the encroacher here.

According to K. Mohan Raj, the petitioner from Coimbatore, he had filed a complaint to the CM cell in August about the quarry functioning close to the Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve in Erode. The petitioner has claimed in his petition that the quarry which is at Mallankuzhi in the Sathyamangalam Taluk did not have proper clearance papers.

“When no development activity could be allowed near Reserve Forests, how can a quarry be allowed so close to a tiger reserve that also very nearby the neighbouring State of Karnataka?” questioned.

He further added that there was no mention of a sanctuary or a reserve nearby in the clearance papers.

However, after a month’s time, a person had approached his house this week asking for him twice and has also called him claiming that he ran the quarry. “The man who claimed he was from Andhra Pradesh further said that his business had dropped because of my petition and threatened to commit suicide if I did not take back the complaint,” said Mohan Raj, who also took to social media about the scenario.

The man had made few more such calls sentimentally intimidating the petitioner forcing him to give a police complaint online on Thursday.

Claiming that there were many loopholes in the CM’s Cell, Mohan Raj questioned how his identities were revealed to the encroacher. “I gave a secret complaint and how could confidential information including my house address could be revealed? This does speak well of the CM Cell,” he informed. He further asked for a revision of the system.

When tried contacting officials regarding the issue, they said that the encroacher might have been approached by concerned officials regarding his actions and may be that could have triggered the response.
