Over 1500 college students walked the ramp in the Handlooms fashion show organized as part of the National Handloom day.
The college students hailding from 40 city colleges, wearing a variety of glittering handloom sarees walked the ramp stylishly which received overwhelming response from the visitors.
Vanathi Srinivasan, BJP State Secretary the organiser of the fashion show said that the handloom fashion show is being organized to popularize handloom products among college students and young women. The Central Government has been implementing many schemes for the sustenance and growth of ailing handloom sector.
Lakshmi Ramakrishnan, film director said that handloom sector, which was once a booming sector in India has faced impediments in the modern days. Patronage from young men and women could help revive the ailing sector.
Expressing her view on the prevailing political climate in Tamilandu, Lakshmi Ramakrishnan said that film personalities have been aspiring to become leaders overnight. In the past, film personalities did their apprenticeship under able political leaders before emerging as leaders in their own right.
"I would not extend my support to either Rajnikanth or Kamal Hassan if they chose to enter politics", Lakshmi Ramakrishnan said.
