Reacting to the Central Government’s decision to let the state-owned oil marketing companies to raise the price of LPG cylinder Rs.4 per month so as to enable total withdrawal of subsidy given to the cooking gas cylinders by March 2018, the Mahila congress workers here staged a novel agitation in front of South Taluk office.

The agitators carried the cooking cylinder in a pall and brought earthen pots and firewood to the agitation venue, symbolizing that the subsidy cut would affect the poor in a big way and they might to be forced to use the firewood stove in the future.
The novel protest by the members of the Mahila Congress garnered the attention of the public, widely.
Uma Maheshwari, District Mahila Congress president led the protest and over 100 cadres took part.
