Water bodies yet to reach max capacity, as monsoon showers slow down.

Though very intermittent, this monsoon showers have definitely helped to increase the water levels in the dams and canals throughout the district.

So far, Valparai has received the highest monsoon showers till date compared to other areas but whereas records show that the rainfall is low when compared to last year.

"Usually a good monsoon starts by the beginning of June and would last till mid of September. But this year, the showers started only by mid of July. Hence the water bodies are yet to reach the maximum capacity.

The Sholaiyar dam has just reached 63 feet whereas the max capacity is 160 feet. Hence, only if the rains intensify in the upcoming weeks, water levels would rise to max capacity", shared an Official.
