It's a dream come true for the people of Thondamuthur as their long pending plea to open a Govt College in their locale is at last accomplished. Under the aegis of Minister SP Velumani, a new Govt Arts and Science College was approved for construction on the main Thondamuthur Road (next to Thondamuthur Police Station).
Tomorrow, 6th August (Sunday) the Minister for Municipal Administration, SP Velumani, who is also the legislator of Thondamuthur Constituency will declare open the College. District Collector TN Hariharan, Vice-Chancellor of Bharathiar University and other dignitaries will preside over the function.
The Govt Arts & Science College is affiliated to Bharathiar University and will offer comprehensive courses to the students. "Initially, courses like BA (English), BA (Economics), B.Sc (Maths), B.Com (CA), B.Com (PA) will be offered to the students for which the admission process would kick-start shortly. And, those students who have already enrolled them in Private Colleges also can seek admission", said the officials.
The people living in adjoining villages around Thondamuthur have expressed their appreciation to the TamilNadu Government, especially to Minister SP Velumani for taking into consideration their plea to open a Govt College in their area. The people of Thondamuthur have stated that undeniably this effort would benefit thousands of students who are mostly hailing from poor economical backgrounds.
