The movement of leopard into residential colonies continues to be a never-ending threat to the residents of Valparai. Even in the recent past, close to a dozen of cattle have been attacked by the leopards.

This morning, Selvam a cattle gazer was shocked to find his goat attacked by a leopard. Selvam tried to fear the leopard by making sounds, however the leopard preyed on the goat and killed it. As neighbours of Selvam came for help, the leopard fled into the bushes of the tea plantation and escaped.
Selvam immediately escalated the issue to the Forest Officials who assured the residents to set a trap for the leopard and also warned them to be mindful of the leopard movement.
Struck in panic, the residents have urged to expedite the process of capturing the leopard, as it is practically very difficult to ascertain the hide out place of the leopard, they grieved. "The animal could be anywhere, even on the tree hence being careful isn't that easy for us", they said.
