After a long trail of more than three hours, forest department staff of the Mettupalayam Range of Coimbatore Forest Division along with NGO members guided an estranged gaur back inside forest area in Mettupalayam here on Thursday.
According to Mettupalayam Ranger S.Selvaraj, the gaur bull aged around eight had ventured out of the reserve into Mettupalayam municipality.
The confused animal was roaming the streets creating danger to the locals of Municipality.
A team of forest officials along with members of Wildlife Wranglers joined together and started driving the bovine back inside the reserve using fire crackers.
The team was nearly running behind the bull as it roamed around Madheshwaran Temple, Kuttayur, Gandhi Nagar, Second Bridge, Railway Line, Ayarpadi, Madonna School and Kurumbanur.
The forest jeep was also used during the guiding process and the animal was finally diverted back to the jungle around 10.30 am.
