Group clash in Govt. Arts College, college shuts hostel for a week.

A group clash which erupted between two groups of students representing day scholars and hostel inmates left many injured at the Government Arts College.

“A rivalry between two groups representing day scholars and hostel inmates have led to the clash. The day scholars have been subjected to teasing and ragging by hostel inmates for a long time. When day scholars questioned it, a clash ensued leaving many injured", the students said.

Upon receiving information, the police rushed to the spot and sent the injured students to the Government Hospital.

The day scholars strongly alleged that the college authorities are siding with the hostel inmates and no action has been initiated against them despite lodging several complaints.

Reacting to the incident, the college authorities have declared that the hostel would be shut down until next week.
