The residents of Chettipalayam have laid siege and demonstrated in front of the Town panchayat office demanding to expedite the works to establish a new railway station.
The protesting residents said that even though the Southern Railway authorities have sanctioned the project to set up a new railway station in Chettipalayam on the Podanur- Pollachi section, an undue delay is caused due to fund allocation by the local MP and Panchayat officials who are not are showing interest in implementing the project.
The villagers demanded that the work be taken up immediately without any further delay, lest the continued agitations will be organized on behalf of the villagers, they warned.
