Govt. to cut LPG subsidy; Oil marketing companies asked to raise the price of LPG by Rs.4 per month

The Central Government has directed the state-owned oil marketing companies to raise the price of LPG cylinder Rs.4 per month so as to enable total withdrawal of subsidy given to the cooking gas cylinders by March 2018.

The oil marketing companies such as Bharat Petroleum, Indian Oil Corporation would be allowed to raise Rs.2 rupee for a 14. 2 kg cylinder.

Furthermore the Oil and Petroleum ministry has stepped up its efforts in to stop subsidized LPG to families earning more than Rs.10 lakh per annum. According to Petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the call to give up subsidy voluntarily has drew a poor response and so the Government has to enforce the law to stop subsidy for the rich families.
