Field staff of the Madukkarai Range of Coimbatore Forest Division retrieved the carcass of a five-year-old bull Gaur near Perumal Kovil in Mathipalayam here in the District on Monday.
According to sources, they had noticed the carcass during routine checking inside forested landscape. Since the gaur had an injury in the abdomen, possibly caused by another gaur with the horns, it was concluded that the animal had a fight with another bull.
Eventually, the animal had died in the fight after it was severely injured.
