Farmers’ stage novel protest, demand crop insurance be made only through state owned insurance companies.

Urging that the crop insurance should not be carried out through the private sector insurance companies, the farmers belonging to Tamilnadu Vivasayikal Sangam staged a novel protest in which they yoked men to ploughs that they carried to the collectorate.



Noting that the government should insure their crops only with the help of state owned insurance companies they alleged that the when they get banks loans their crop insurance is being automatically give to private sector insurance companies, which would endanger their livelihood prospects.
