A man, Raja of Nagarajapuram near Podanur attempted suicide by pouring kerosene on himself and his four children under duress in the collectorate campus here.

Alleging that he has been threatened to evacuate from a poramboke land in which he has constructed a house and living with his family, he was about to set fire on himself when police rescued him and the children.

Alleging that some third parties are threatening him to evacuate from the poramboke land on the pretext that it belongs to a Mariamman temple Raja said even though he has given a police complaint no action was taken against the offenders.

Police who rescued him from the attempted suicide took him to the Race course police station.
