Sri Hari Om Hindu Seva Sangam, a Hindu outfit has petitioned District collector T.N.Hariharan to take action to stop Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam, a rationalist outfit which is bent upon ridiculing the religious and ritual practices of Hindus.

N.Ponmani, the founder leader of the Sangam has stated that Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam has planned a protest event on Aavani Avittam, which falls on August 7 in which pigs would be worn sacred thread by its cadres.
Condemning the rationalist outfit for besmirching religious practices, Ponmani has demanded that the ban be imposed on the rationalists out fit for staging such acts against ritual practices of Hindus.
Hindu communities such as Vishwakarma and others have been practicing the ritual wearing of sacred thread on this day and the planned event would mock that practice, the petitioner has said.
