Kovai Kulangal Pathukaapu Amaippu organises motor bike rally to create awareness on the poor state of check dams


Over 150 volunteers of Kovai Kulangal Pathukaapu Amaippu, a volunteer-driven people’s movement to revive water bodies in the city have taken out a motor bike rally to create awareness on the poor state of check dams in Noyyal river system and the need to restore them to its original glory.



The rally commenced from Chithirai Chavadai check dam, and the volunteer rode in 65 vehicles for over a stretch of 15 kilometres where the rally culminated in Coimbatore check dam.



The volunteer force also inspected the kurichi check dam added to the other two check dams.

The bike rally was flagged off by children as they are the future citizens of the city, and all the volunteers who took part in the rally used helmets to take part in the rally. The rally marked the 25th week of the field work of the movement.
