Union Minister for Railways, Suresh Prabhu,inaugurated a host of new facilities and amenities at the Coimbatore Railway junction and laid the foundation stone for new works through video conferencing

Speaking at the inagural function, after inaugurating Skywalk and Escalator for platform approach at Coimbatore junction and new station building at Perianaickenpalayam constructed under Corporate Social Responsibility and launching of App- based Cab Services in Coimbatore junction the minister while speaking to medial said that Uday Express , a night service would be operated between Coimbatore and Bangalore before September end.Passenger Train services between Coimbatore and Pollachi would be resumed soon the minister said.

The Railway ministry has drawn a plan to spend Rs. 1 lakh crore for the Railway security measures in all over the country he said and added that express trains services which is at 41% now would be doubled within three years.
S.P.Velumani, Minister for Municipalities who spoke on the occasion said and appealed to the railway minister to introduce a new train between Pollachi and Bangalore and call it as Anaimalai express.

He also appealed to reduce congestion in Coimbatore junction by carrying out expansion works and wanted the express trains such Nilgiris express, Cheran Express to halt in Coimbatore junction.
The minister also wanted more booking counters in Coimbatore junction and expedite the ongoing gauge conversion works between Pollachi and Podanur
