AJK College Launches Exclusive Semiconductor Programme with L&T EduTech

AJK College of Arts and Science has introduced an industry-integrated Semiconductor Technology programme for BCA students in collaboration with Larsen & Toubro EduTech, becoming the first Arts and Science college in Coimbatore to offer specialised training in VLSI front-end design and verification.

Coimbatore:

AJK College of Arts and Science has become the first Arts and Science college in Coimbatore to introduce an industry-integrated programme in Semiconductor Technology for Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) students in collaboration with Larsen & Toubro (L&T) EduTech.

The programme, titled VLSI Front-End Design and Verification Mastery Programme, has been designed to equip students with industry-relevant knowledge and practical skills in semiconductor technology. The curriculum will focus on VLSI front-end design and verification, enabling students to gain specialised expertise in one of the fastest-growing segments of the electronics industry.

The initiative comes at a time when Tamil Nadu is rapidly emerging as a major semiconductor and advanced electronics hub through its Semiconductor Mission 2030, with a strong focus on semiconductor design, manufacturing, research, innovation and workforce development.

The Coimbatore region is expected to play a key role in this transformation. The State Government has announced semiconductor equipment manufacturing parks at Sulur and Palladam to strengthen the semiconductor ecosystem, while the Union Government has expanded semiconductor talent development programmes across Tamil Nadu, with several engineering institutions in Coimbatore participating in national semiconductor skilling initiatives.

Against this backdrop, the collaboration with L&T EduTech aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry by integrating professional training with the regular BCA curriculum. Students will gain exposure to industry practices, design methodologies and application-oriented learning, preparing them for careers in semiconductor design, embedded systems, electronics and allied technology sectors.

The programme is also expected to improve students' employability by equipping them with skills aligned to the growing demand for semiconductor professionals, as India and Tamil Nadu continue to invest in building a robust chip design, manufacturing and electronics ecosystem.

The college said the initiative reflects its commitment to offering future-ready education through industry partnerships and preparing graduates for opportunities in emerging deep technology sectors.
