Five Family Members Killed in Horrific Crash Near Pollachi

Five members of a family, including three women, were killed after their car crashed into a water tanker engaged in watering plants along the centre median of the Pollachi–Udumalai National Highway near Nallampalli on Saturday.

Coimbatore: Five members of a family, including three women, were killed in a devastating road accident after the car they were travelling in crashed into a water tanker engaged in watering plants along the median of the Pollachi–Udumalai National Highway near Nallampalli in Pollachi on Saturday.

According to preliminary information, the family was travelling from Udumalai towards Pollachi when the accident occurred near the Nallampalli junction. The car is said to have rammed into the rear of a water tanker that was stationed on the highway while workers were watering plants along the centre median.

The impact of the collision was severe, leaving the car completely mangled and trapping all five occupants inside. Local residents rushed to the spot and alerted the Gomangalam police. Police personnel, along with rescue teams, extricated the victims from the wreckage. However, all five had succumbed to their injuries at the scene.



The bodies were shifted to the Pollachi Government Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Police have identified four of the deceased as Kanagaraj, Narmadha, Aarthi and Poorani, all residents of Guruvampalayam in Madukkarai. The identity of the fifth victim is yet to be officially confirmed.

The Gomangalam police have registered a case and launched an investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances that led to the fatal collision.
