Two Arrested for Robbing Ambulance Driver at Knifepoint near Sungam in Coimbatore

Two youths were remanded to judicial custody by the Ramanathapuram Police for allegedly robbing an ambulance driver of ₹10,300 at knifepoint near Sungam Bypass Road in Coimbatore. The stolen cash has been recovered.

Coimbatore: The Ramanathapuram Police have arrested two youths for allegedly robbing an ambulance driver at knifepoint and stealing ₹10,300 near Sungam Bypass Road in Coimbatore.

According to the police, the victim, Khader, an ambulance driver and a resident of the Sungam Bypass Road area in Ramanathapuram, had stopped by the roadside to attend to nature’s call when he was allegedly intercepted by two unidentified men on a motorcycle without a registration number plate.

Police said one of the accused, who was riding pillion, allegedly threatened Khader by holding a knife to him, while the rider also brandished a knife. The duo then allegedly robbed the victim of ₹10,300 before fleeing the scene.

Based on a complaint lodged by the ambulance driver, the Ramanathapuram Police registered a case and launched an investigation under the supervision of Inspector Kasipandian.

As part of the investigation, police arrested Afzal (22) of Ramanathapuram and Godwin alias Godwin Kings (22) of Singanallur in connection with the case. Both were remanded to judicial custody.

Police said the entire stolen amount was recovered from the accused.
