Tamil Nadu Agricultural University Vice-Chancellor Dr. K. Subramaniam distributed ₹83.20 lakh grants to 25 entrepreneurs under the RKVY-RAFTAAR-R-ABI scheme. Since 2019, a total of ₹17.26 crore has been disbursed to 165 entrepreneurs through this Central Government initiative promoting agricultural entrepreneurship.
Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu Agricultural University's Agri-Business Incubator organized a grant distribution ceremony for selected entrepreneurs under the Central Government's Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana - Remunerative Approaches for Agriculture and Allied sectors Rejuvenation - Regional Agribusiness Incubators (RKVY-RAFTAAR-R-ABI) scheme, implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
The ceremony held on July 8, 2026, saw TNAU Vice-Chancellor Dr. K. Subramaniam distributing grants totaling ₹83.20 lakh to 25 entrepreneurs. Under SAIP Cohort VI for agri-startups, 11 grantees received ₹45.40 lakh, while 10 grantees under AOP Cohort VI for new agricultural entrepreneurs received ₹30.00 lakh. Additionally, 4 student entrepreneurs under the Student Orientation Program (SOP) Cohort-VI received ₹7.80 lakh.
The RKVY-RAFTAAR-R-ABI scheme commenced operations at TNAU's Directorate of Agribusiness Development and Agri-Business Incubator in 2019. The program provides financial support through three categories: grants up to ₹5 lakh for new agricultural entrepreneurs (AOP) and up to ₹25 lakh for agri-startups (SAIP).
Since its inception in 2019, the Agri-Business Incubator has successfully disbursed a total of ₹17.26 crore to 165 entrepreneurs under this Central Government initiative, marking a significant milestone in promoting agricultural entrepreneurship in the region.
Addressing the gathering, Vice-Chancellor Dr. K. Subramaniam emphasized the importance of engaging young graduates in agriculture-related businesses. He highlighted the necessity of guiding agri-entrepreneurs to innovate and implement new technologies for sustainable and profitable agricultural ventures.
Dr. E. Somasundaram, Director of the Directorate of Agribusiness Development, delivered the welcome address. A.V. Gnanasambandham, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Agri-Business Incubator, proposed the vote of thanks. University officials and entrepreneurs attended the event.
The entrepreneurs who received grants under this scheme are expected to utilize the funding for enhancing agricultural and allied products, and introducing innovative technologies in their respective ventures, thereby contributing to the growth of the agricultural sector.
