Coimbatore Police Crack Madukkarai Woman Death Case; Husband Nabbed in Odisha, Remanded to Judicial Custody

A special police team arrested Jagan Pradhan in Odisha in connection with the death of his wife, whose partially decomposed body was found near Madukkarai last month. The accused has been remanded to judicial custody.

Coimbatore: The Madukkarai Police have arrested the husband of an Odisha woman whose partially decomposed body was found in a semi-naked state in an isolated area under the Madukkarai police limits on June 24. Police said the case, initially registered as a suspicious death, has now been altered to murder.

The victim, identified as Parsha, was found dead inside thorny bushes near a private college on MGR Nagar Road in the Manjappallam North area of Kovai Pudur. Her body, discovered by local residents, was in an advanced stage of decomposition.

As her identity was initially unknown, police publicised her identifying features, including tattoos on her hands and the footwear recovered from the scene, seeking public assistance. The investigation later established that the deceased was Parsha, a native of Odisha, who had been residing with her husband, Jagan Pradhan (23), at Eswar Nagar near Kovai Pudur. The couple were employed as construction workers, with Jagan working as a mason.

Police said Jagan went absconding after the incident, prompting the formation of a special investigation team to trace him. Acting on intelligence inputs, the team tracked him down in Odisha, arrested him and brought him back to Coimbatore for further investigation.

Based on the evidence collected during the investigation and the accused's statement during interrogation, police altered the case from suspicious death to murder. However, officials have not yet disclosed the exact sequence of events leading to the woman's death or confirmed where the alleged murder took place, stating that the investigation is still in progress.

Jagan Pradhan was produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody.

Further investigation is under way.
