Agriculture Minister Inspects Research Facilities and Student Amenities at TNAU

Tamil Nadu Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister R. Vinoth reviewed research activities and infrastructure at the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) in Coimbatore, inspecting key departments, experimental facilities, and student amenities during his visit.


Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister R. Vinoth on Thursday conducted a comprehensive inspection of various departments, research facilities and student amenities at the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) in Coimbatore.



The Minister was accompanied by TNAU Vice-Chancellor Dr. K. Subramanian, along with heads of departments and senior faculty members.



As part of the visit, he reviewed the activities of the university’s Rice Research Centre, where he examined the paddy varieties developed and displayed by the institution and enquired about their cultivation practices, adaptability and research outcomes.

He also inspected several key facilities, including the university’s farm campus, Agricultural Engineering Department, Agribusiness Development Centre, Botanical Garden, Nanotechnology Centre and Insect Museum, taking stock of the research and extension initiatives undertaken by the institution.



The Minister later visited the university’s fruit orchard and reviewed its ongoing activities before inspecting the students’ hostels and dining facilities. Interacting with students, he sought feedback on hostel infrastructure and amenities and enquired about the issues and concerns faced by them.

The visit focused on assessing the university’s research capabilities, academic infrastructure and student welfare facilities, while emphasising the role of TNAU in strengthening agricultural innovation and farmer-centric development in the State.
