Coimbatore district administration has announced eligibility criteria and application deadlines for admissions to Minority Welfare Hostels. Eligible college, ITI and polytechnic students can apply before July 15, 2026, to avail free accommodation and meals.

The Coimbatore district administration has announced the eligibility criteria and application deadline for admissions to Minority Welfare Hostels functioning at Masakalipalayam and Sundarapuram in the district.
Students pursuing undergraduate, postgraduate, ITI and polytechnic courses are eligible to apply for admission to these hostels. The facilities are provided free of cost to eligible students.
All hostel residents will be provided with free boarding and lodging facilities, including three meals a day.
According to the eligibility criteria, the annual income of the parent or guardian should not exceed INR 2 lakh. The distance between the student’s residence and educational institution should be more than 8 kilometres. However, this distance criterion is not applicable to girl students.
Eligible students can obtain application forms free of cost from the respective hostel wardens or from the District Minorities Welfare Office functioning at the District Collectorate.
Completed application forms must be submitted to the respective hostel wardens or the District Minorities Welfare Office on or before July 15, 2026.
Applicants are not required to submit community or income certificates while applying. These documents need to be furnished only at the time of admission.
The administration has also reserved five seats in each hostel for children of Sri Lankan Tamil refugees residing in camps across Tamil Nadu.
