Sri Ramakrishna Hospital Coimbatore Celebrates World Hand Hygiene Day with QR-Based Campaign

Sri Ramakrishna Hospital Coimbatore marked World Hand Hygiene Day 2026 on May 5 with innovative QR code-based awareness program. Aligned with the theme "Action Saves Lives", the Infection Control Department promoted hand hygiene practices through digital education to reduce healthcare-associated infections among staff and visitors.

Coimbatore: Sri Ramakrishna Hospital's Infection Control Department organized a comprehensive awareness and educational program on May 5, 2026, to mark World Hand Hygiene Day within its premises, emphasizing the critical importance of hand hygiene among healthcare providers and the general public.

The program, aligned with this year's global theme "Action Saves Lives", focused on promoting effective hand hygiene practices as a fundamental measure to reduce healthcare-associated infections and improve patient safety outcomes.

A distinctive feature of the celebration was the innovative deployment of QR codes strategically placed across the hospital premises. This digital initiative allowed healthcare workers, patients, and visitors to instantly access educational content by simply scanning the codes using their mobile devices. The QR codes provided direct links to informative materials on the importance of hand hygiene, step-by-step guidelines on proper hand washing techniques, and engaging video demonstrations showcasing correct hand hygiene practices.

This technology-driven approach enabled easy, quick, and widespread dissemination of information, encouraging active participation and self-learning among both the public and healthcare staff. The interactive format proved particularly effective in reaching diverse audiences with consistent messaging.

The occasion was graced by Hospital Chief Executive Officer C.V. RamKumar, Chief Administrative Officer D. Mahesh Kumar, Medical Director Dr S. Rajagopal, and Medical Superintendent Dr S. Alagappan. Healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, and support staff actively participated in the program and reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining strict infection control practices.

Visitors and patients were also encouraged to adopt proper hand hygiene in their daily routines to prevent the spread of infections. Sri Ramakrishna Hospital continues to demonstrate leadership in improving public health awareness and ensuring a safer healthcare environment through innovative and impactful initiatives that combine traditional health education with modern digital technology.
