Class 4 Student Returns Lost Purse with Cash to Rightful Owner in Coimbatore

A nine-year-old student from Coimbatore found a purse containing Rs 9,500 and important documents on the road. She immediately handed it over to police, who traced and returned it to the IT employee owner, earning widespread praise for her honesty.


Coimbatore: A heartwarming incident of honesty has come to light in Coimbatore, where a Class 4 student found a lost purse containing cash and documents on the road and promptly handed it over to the police, who then returned it to its rightful owner.

Manish (45), a resident of Thomas Street in Coimbatore, has a nine-year-old daughter named Jhanvi who studies in Class 4 at a private school in Puliakulam. On the afternoon of March 23, Manish was walking with his daughter Jhanvi from their home to a shop when they were near Ther Street.

While walking, Jhanvi spotted a purse lying on the road. Upon opening it, she discovered Rs 9,500 in cash along with an ATM card, Aadhaar card, and driving licence inside. Without hesitation, young Jhanvi immediately went with her father to the Kadai Veethi Police Station and handed over the found purse to Inspector Shankar.

The police then used the address on the Aadhaar card found in the purse to trace its owner. They identified him as Harish (33), an IT employee from Papanaickenpalayam. The police contacted Harish and asked him to come to the police station yesterday.

At the police station, Jhanvi personally handed over the purse to Harish. Inspector Shankar honored the young student by draping her with a shawl and commending her exemplary act of honesty. The incident has earned widespread appreciation for Jhanvi, with many praising her moral values and integrity at such a young age.

This act of honesty by the young student serves as an inspiring example for society, demonstrating that good values and integrity transcend age. The Coimbatore City Police also appreciated the family for instilling such strong moral values in their child.
