Green Garden Residents Distribute Free Biryani to 5000 People for Ramadan in Coimbatore

Residents of Green Garden apartment complex in Ukkadam Kottaimedu organized their 7th annual Ramadan biryani distribution event, serving 5000 people including residents of all faiths and sanitation workers. The community event was led by welfare association president Mohammed Mubarak.

Coimbatore: The Green Garden Residents Welfare Association, located in the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board complex at Ukkadam Kottaimedu, organized a massive free biryani distribution event to mark the occasion of Ramadan festival.

The event, which has been conducted for the seventh consecutive year, saw approximately 5000 people being served freshly prepared biryani. The beneficiaries included residents of the apartment complex, people from all faiths living in the area, and over 200 sanitation workers who work in the locality.

Mohammed Mubarak, president of the Green Garden Apartment Welfare Association, led the event. He explained that instead of breaking their fast privately during Ramadan, the community chose to celebrate by hosting people from all religions. "We distribute biryani to 600 families totaling around 5000 people, including all residents of different faiths and more than 200 sanitation workers in this area," Mubarak stated.

The organizers revealed that despite the recent price hikes due to cylinder shortages and increased firewood costs, they went ahead with the event using monetary contributions received from well-wishers. The community did not let the inflation deter their annual tradition of service.

The preparation work continued throughout the night, with biryani being cooked in more than six large vessels (andas). The massive cooking operation ensured that everyone received hot, freshly prepared food regardless of their faith or social background.

This initiative exemplifies the spirit of communal harmony and service, where the Muslim community of Green Garden extends their festival celebrations to include brothers and sisters of all religions, making it a truly inclusive celebration of Ramadan.
