Fatal Accident on Sowripalayam-Puliyakulam Road in Coimbatore: One Dead

A tragic accident occurred on Sowripalayam-Puliyakulam Road in Coimbatore on October 12, resulting in the death of a pedestrian. A speeding septic tank lorry collided with a parked car and two pedestrians.



Coimbatore: A tragic accident on the Sowripalayam-Puliyakulam Road in Coimbatore claimed the life of a pedestrian on Thursday, October 12. The victim, identified as Marudhasalam from the Puliyakulam area, was walking along the road with a friend when the incident occurred.

According to police reports, a speeding septic tank lorry lost control and first collided with a parked car on the roadside. The impact of the collision caused the lorry to veer off course, subsequently hitting Marudhasalam and his companion who were walking on the side of the road.

The force of the impact threw Marudhasalam onto the car before he became entangled in the lorry's wheels, resulting in his immediate death at the scene. His friend, whose identity has not been disclosed, was also injured in the accident.



The driver of the septic tank lorry, identified as Praveen, was apprehended by the police shortly after the incident. The Traffic Police have registered a case and are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.

This tragic event has once again highlighted the need for strict enforcement of speed limits and careful driving, especially in areas with pedestrian traffic. Local residents have expressed their concerns about the safety of the Sowripalayam-Puliyakulam Road, urging authorities to implement additional safety measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
