Minister Kayalvizhi's Name Omitted from Government Event Plaque in Udumalpet, Sparks Controversy

A government event in Udumalpet, Tirupur district, faces backlash as Minister Kayalvizhi's name was excluded from the invitation and plaque, leading to widespread criticism and demands for action.

Tirupur: A recent government event in Udumalpet, Tirupur district, has stirred controversy after the name of Minister Kayalvizhi, current Minister for Human Resources Management and former Minister for Adi Dravidar Welfare, was omitted from the invitation and commemorative plaque.

The event, held on the 20th at the Central Bus Stand area in Udumalpet, saw the inauguration of various facilities including a Jallikattu Memorial Square, Leaders' Park, Waterflow Park, and Ashoka Stupa junction. The ceremony was presided over by Minister for Tamil Development and Information, Swaminathan.

The exclusion of Minister Kayalvizhi's name from the official invitation and plaque has shocked her supporters and DMK party members. As a result, complaints against Municipal Chairman Matheen and Minister Swaminathan have been circulating on social media platforms in Udumalpet, Dharapuram, Chennai, and other locations, with photographic evidence being sent to the DMK leadership.

Advocate Sadiq Basha, President of the Tamil Nadu Progressive Lawyers' Association, strongly condemned the deliberate omission of Minister Kayalvizhi's name. He pointed out that while the names of a former AIADMK minister and Tirupur Corporation's 4th Ward Chairman Padmanabhan were included, the current minister's name was conspicuously absent.

Basha questioned whether Minister Swaminathan failed to notice this oversight during the unveiling ceremony or if he was not shown the plaque beforehand. He emphasized that this incident has angered the public, as it appears to be a planned exclusion of a Scheduled Caste minister in a movement that claims to stand for social justice.

The lawyer called upon Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to intervene immediately and take appropriate action on this matter. The controversy has created a significant stir in the region, with images of the plaque omitting Minister Kayalvizhi's name rapidly spreading across social media platforms.
