Four Arrested in Coimbatore for Ganja Possession and Sale, Including College Students

Coimbatore police arrested four individuals, including two college students, for possessing and selling ganja. The arrests took place in Kuniyamuthur and LIG Colony areas on September 29.


Coimbatore: In a crackdown on drug peddling, the Coimbatore police arrested four individuals, including two college students, for possessing and selling ganja in different parts of the city on Friday, September 29.

The Kuniyamuthur police, during a routine patrol, apprehended three suspects in the Arivoli Nagar area of Coimbatore Pudur. The trio's suspicious behavior and inconsistent responses during questioning led to a search, which revealed they were in possession of ganja intended for sale.

The arrested individuals include Basil (21), a private company employee from K.K. Nagar, and two students from different private colleges in Coimbatore. The police seized 110 grams of ganja and a weighing machine from their possession.

In a separate incident, the police arrested Balaji (29), a resident of Kembatti Colony, near a public toilet in the LIG Garden Housing Unit area. He was caught selling ganja, and 110 grams of the drug were confiscated from him.

The arrests highlight the ongoing efforts of the Coimbatore police to curb drug-related activities in the city, particularly targeting young adults and students involved in the illegal trade.
