Thousands Worship at Famous Rama Temple Near Pollachi on Purattasi Saturday; Traditional Valli Kummi Dance Enthralls Devotees

Thousands of devotees from Tamil Nadu and Kerala flocked to the famous Rama Temple in Meenatchipuram near Pollachi on the second Saturday of Purattasi month. A traditional Valli Kummi dance performance captivated the audience.



Coimbatore: The renowned Rama Pannai Rama Temple in Meenatchipuram, located near the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border near Pollachi, witnessed a massive turnout of devotees on the second Saturday of the Tamil month of Purattasi.



Thousands of worshippers from both Tamil Nadu and Kerala patiently waited in long queues to offer their prayers at this popular shrine.



Adding to the spiritual fervor, a traditional Valli Kummi dance performance was staged by the Bharathi Valli Kummi dance troupe from Suppegoundanputhur and Nanjegoundanputhur areas of Pollachi. The performance, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Kongu region, captivated the audience gathered at the temple premises.

Over a hundred participants, ranging from young girls to elderly women, took part in the Valli Kummi dance, mesmerizing onlookers with their graceful movements and rhythmic patterns. The dance narrated the story of Goddess Valli, from her birth to her marriage, through melodious songs and coordinated dance steps.

The devotees who had come to worship at the temple were treated to this spectacular cultural display, adding an extra dimension to their spiritual experience. The Valli Kummi dance, deeply rooted in the traditions of the Kongu region, served as a reminder of the rich cultural tapestry that continues to thrive alongside religious practices in Tamil Nadu.
