Coimbatore: The Sirumugai police have arrested a man for illegally selling banned gutka products in Vachinampalaiyam area near Sirumugai in Coimbatore district.

Acting on a tip-off about the illegal sale of gutka products in a shop in Vachinampalaiyam, the Sirumugai police conducted a raid in the area. During the search operation, they discovered 850 kilograms of gutka products, which are banned by the Tamil Nadu government, stored in a shop.

Following the raid, the police arrested the shop owner, identified as Sabeek Ahmed. The authorities seized the contraband gutka products from his possession. The Sirumugai police have registered a case against Sabeek Ahmed and are conducting further investigations into the matter.

This incident highlights the ongoing efforts of the local police to curb the sale and distribution of banned substances in the region. The authorities are likely to investigate potential links to larger distribution networks and take necessary action to prevent such illegal activities in the future.
