Inauguration of School Sustainability Practitioners Club at Coimbatore's Siddhapudur Higher Secondary School

Coimbatore Corporation and Zha Sustainability Practitioners Club launched a sustainability mindset curriculum in five city schools on September 20, 2024, aiming to foster environmental awareness among students.


Coimbatore: The inaugural ceremony of the School Sustainability Practitioners Club, a joint initiative of Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation and Zha Sustainability Practitioners Club, was held at Siddhapudur Higher Secondary School in the Central Zone of Coimbatore on September 20, 2024. The event was presided over by Coimbatore Member of Parliament Dr. Ganapathi P. Rajkumar, in the presence of Corporation Commissioner M. Sivaguru Prabhakaran IAS.

The program marked the launch of the Zha Sustainability Mindset Curriculum (ZSMC) in five Coimbatore Corporation schools as part of the first phase. This initiative aims to cultivate a sustainability mindset among students, enhance environmental awareness, and prepare them to face future challenges.



The curriculum will be implemented for approximately 460 students studying in classes 7 and 8 across five Corporation schools: Corporation Girls Higher Secondary School in Ranganadhapuram, Corporation Girls Higher Secondary School in R.S. Puram West, Corporation Higher Secondary School in Ockiliyard Colony, Corporation Higher Secondary School in Siddhapudur, and Corporation Higher Secondary School in Peelamedu. Students were encouraged to make the best use of this program.

Prior to the main event, the Coimbatore MP and Corporation Commissioner released a book on Zha Sustainability.



The event was attended by various officials including Assistant Commissioner Senthilkumaran, Corporation Education Officer R. Gunasekaran, Zha Foundation Founder Garkhi Ashok Kumar, Co-founder R.S. Vignesh, Secretary Prasannadevi, Co-founder Group Governor Latha Sundaram, Zonal Health Officer Gunasekaran, school headmasters, and Corporation officials.
