Elderly Man Dies After Being Hit by Electric Scooter on Nanjappa Road

Coimbatore: A tragic accident on Nanjappa Road claimed the life of an elderly pedestrian after he was hit by an electric scooter driven by a young woman. The incident occurred on Tuesday, September 19, highlighting the growing concerns about road safety in the city.

Subramani, a 71-year-old resident of Cheran Nagar in Mettupalayam Road, was walking along Nanjappa Road when the accident took place. An electric scooter, driven by a young woman, collided with him, causing severe injuries. The victim was immediately rushed to a government hospital for treatment.

Despite medical efforts, Subramani succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The Coimbatore East Traffic Police have registered a case following a complaint about the incident. The police have identified the scooter driver as Ashwitha, a 19-year-old resident of Shastri Road in Ram Nagar.

Authorities are currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances of the accident. This incident has raised questions about the safety measures needed for both pedestrians and users of electric vehicles on city roads.

The tragic death of Subramani serves as a grim reminder of the importance of road safety awareness and the need for cautious driving, especially in areas with high pedestrian traffic.
