Former Minister Shanmugavelu: Only Tamil Nadu CM's Will Can Secure Funds for Amaravathi Sugar Mill Renovation

Former Minister Shanmugavelu addressed a public meeting in Madathukulam, Tirupur district, emphasizing the need for CM's intervention to renovate Amaravathi Cooperative Sugar Mill and highlighting various local issues.

Tirupur: Former Minister Shanmugavelu, speaking at a public meeting organized by the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) in Madathukulam, Tirupur district, stated that only the willingness of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister could secure funds for the renovation of the Amaravathi Cooperative Sugar Mill.

The meeting, held at Anna Thidal near Kumaralingam Bus Stand, was organized to commemorate the birth anniversary of Perarignar Anna. It was presided over by Madathukulam Union Secretary Rajkumar, following the directives of AMMK General Secretary TTV Dhinakaran.

Shanmugavelu, in his speech, highlighted the contributions of Anna, MGR, and Jayalalithaa in implementing and expanding welfare schemes like the nutritious meal program. He criticized Edappadi Palaniswami for betraying Sasikala, OPS, and the Modi government, claiming that his actions were the primary reason for AIADMK's downfall.

Addressing local issues, Shanmugavelu mentioned that the Amaravathi Cooperative Sugar Mill, which benefits farmers from Tirupur, Dindigul, and Erode districts, has suspended operations due to faulty machinery. He urged the ministers from the region to take steps to secure funds for the mill's renovation, considering the welfare of Madathukulam area farmers.

The former minister also raised concerns about the slow progress of the four-lane road work between Pollachi and Dindigul, particularly in the Madathukulam to Pollachi stretch. He pointed out that the delay is causing an increase in daily road accidents and called for expediting the work.

Shanmugavelu further highlighted the drinking water shortage in many villages due to poor maintenance of joint drinking water schemes in the Madathukulam area. He urged the Water Supply Department officials to address this issue on a war footing.

The meeting was attended by various AMMK functionaries, including chief party speakers, lawyers, district administrators, general committee members, union secretaries, and town secretaries from the Madathukulam region.
