DMK Dharapuram town unit celebrated Perarignar Anna's 116th birth anniversary. Ministers Samynathan and Kayalvizhi Selvaraj garlanded Anna's statue and distributed sweets to children and elders.
Coimbatore: The Dharapuram town unit of DMK in Tiruppur district celebrated the 116th birth anniversary of Perarignar Anna with a series of events, including garlanding his statue and paying respects.
The celebration began with DMK town secretary S. Muruganantham leading a silent procession from Poolavadi division. Party members garlanded Anna's portrait in the Poolavadi area before marching through Chinnakadai Street, T.S. Corner, Javulikadai Street, and Pookadai Corner to reach Anna's statue.
At the statue, Tamil Development and Information Minister Samynathan and Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Minister Kayalvizhi Selvaraj paid their respects by garlanding Anna's statue. The ministers then hoisted the DMK flag near the statue and distributed sweets to children and elders present at the event.
Several prominent DMK leaders attended the celebration, including S.V. Senthil Kumar, Dharapuram Panchayat Union Committee Chairman and DMK Union Secretary; Kathiravan, Dharapuram Town Council Chairman; Pappu Kannan, Dharapuram Municipal Chairman; Thanasekhar, Chief Executive Committee Member; Kamalakkannan, DMK Town Deputy Secretary; Prabhavathi Periyasamy, District Deputy Secretary; Saraswathi Rajendran, former MLA; Durai Tamilarasu, Moolanur West Union Secretary; R. Panneerselvam, Chinnakampalayam Town Secretary; Power Sekhar, District Labour Wing Deputy Organizer; and Aaron Selvaraj, District Youth Wing Deputy Organizer. DMK municipal councilors and current and former executives from Dharapuram Union, town, and rural areas also participated in large numbers.
