DMDK's Vijayaprabhakaran Dismisses Opposition's Protests Over Annapoorna Issue as Unnecessary

DMDK's Vijayaprabhakaran attended a party member's wedding in Coimbatore, danced with the couple, and addressed various political issues, including the Annapoorna controversy and alliance possibilities for upcoming elections.

Coimbatore: Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) leader Vijayaprabhakaran, son of late party founder Vijayakanth, has stated that the opposition parties are blowing the Annapoorna issue out of proportion and deemed their protests unnecessary.

Vijayaprabhakaran made these remarks while attending a DMDK functionary's wedding in the Perur area of Coimbatore. After dancing with the newlyweds, he addressed the media, highlighting the party's recent activities and commenting on various political issues.

The DMDK leader mentioned that the party had celebrated its 20th anniversary by distributing welfare aids across Coimbatore district and providing meals to about 3,000 people in all constituencies. They also presented gold rings to 20 newborns at Coimbatore Government Hospital on September 14, of which 16 were male children. Vijayaprabhakaran expressed his joy, stating it felt like "Captain" (referring to his late father Vijayakanth) had been reborn.

Regarding the Annapoorna controversy, Vijayaprabhakaran said, "Opposition parties are magnifying the Annapoorna issue. Congress party members held a protest, which I see as unnecessary. Only Annapoorna Srinivasan can say whether he was intimidated into apologizing."

When asked about potential alliances for upcoming elections, Vijayaprabhakaran stated, "Let the Tamilaga Vazhvurimai Katchi (TVK) party conference take place. Let them discuss their party policies and face the elections. After that, we can talk about alliances. DMDK has been around for 20 years, so they should be asked if they will join alliances."

Vijayaprabhakaran also commented on various issues in Tamil Nadu, including poor road conditions in Coimbatore, unfinished bridge constructions, sexual violence, illicit liquor problems, and the recent car rally. He viewed some of these activities as mere publicity stunts by the current administration.
