Park Colleges Inaugurate Computer Science Department Association for 2024-25 Academic Year

Park College of Engineering and Technology and Park College of Technology inaugurated their Computer Science Department Association for the 2024-25 academic year on September 11, 2024, at the Kaniyur campus.


Coimbatore: The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, along with Computer Science and Engineering (Cyber Security) of Park College of Engineering and Technology and Park College of Technology, inaugurated their Department Association for the 2024-25 academic year on September 11, 2024. The event, held at the Kaniyur campus, aimed to benefit the student community.

The function commenced with a prayer song and the lighting of the Kuthu vilakku by the dignitaries. Dr. Saranya, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, welcomed the gathering. Dr. K Kumaresan, Principal of Park College of Technology, and Dr. D. Lakshmanan, Principal of Park College of Engineering and Technology, offered felicitations, emphasizing the importance of Association activities and encouraging students to conduct more events in the future.

Dr. Anusha Ravi, CEO of Park Group of Institutions, presided over the function. In her speech, she reminisced about her journey with computer science, from her 11th standard studies through her B.E., M.S. in Computer Science from Old Dominion University, Virginia, USA, and culminating in her Ph.D. in Computer Science. Dr. Ravi mentioned that the institution has been providing laptops to students since 2012 and expressed her desire to establish a Computer Museum showcasing the evolution of computers for the present generation.

Highlighting the importance of cybersecurity, Dr. Ravi shared alarming statistics from the Coimbatore police, revealing that Coimbatore residents lost Rs. 66 crore in one year due to online fraud. She emphasized the need for caution when using social media and other online platforms.

The chief guest, Mr. Sankaraj Subramanian, Founder and CEO of Prompt Infotech, Coimbatore, addressed the gathering on the advantages and disadvantages of online and digital platforms. He focused on cybersecurity and provided insights on personal protection in the digital realm.

The event also honored students who had achieved excellence in various activities, presenting them with certificates. Each department showcased its achievements through flash presentations. The function concluded with a vote of thanks by the Student Chairman, followed by the National Anthem.
