Traffic diversions in Coimbatore for Vinayagar idol immersion procession

Coimbatore city implements traffic diversions on September 11 for Vinayagar idol immersion procession. Restrictions include truck ban and route changes from 8 AM to 8 PM.


Coimbatore: The Coimbatore City Police have announced traffic diversions on September 11 in view of the Vinayagar idol immersion procession. The changes will be in effect from 8 AM to 8 PM to facilitate the smooth conduct of the procession, which will culminate with the immersion of idols in Muthannan Kulam.

As part of the traffic arrangements, trucks are prohibited from entering the city during the specified hours. Vehicles from Ukkadam bus stand heading towards Perur must use the Perur bypass road and reach their destinations via Selvapuram Sivalaya theater junction. Those traveling from Gandhipuram and Town Hall through Vysial Street and Sullivan Street should take the Ukkadam-Perur bypass road to reach Selvapuram.

All vehicles going towards Trichy Road via Ukkadam are directed to use the Sungam bypass road to reach Sungam junction before proceeding to Trichy Road. Vehicles from Ukkadam to Mettupalayam Road and Thudiyalur Road should take Oppanakara Street, Raja Street, and Railway Station road to reach Gandhipuram.

Vehicles coming from Thudiyalur Road to the city must turn left at Venkitapuram junction and proceed via NSR Road, Mettupalayam Road, ARC junction, and Sivananda Colony. Those entering from Mettupalayam should turn left at Sanganur Bridge junction and go through Ganapathy and Gandhipuram.

The procession route includes Raj Veedhi, Range Gowder Street, Big Bazaar Street, Vysial Street, Karuppanna Goundar Street, Sullivan Street, Gandhi Park, Telugu Street, Sukrawarpet, Thiyagi Kumaran Street, Idayar Street, Theppakulam ground, Flower Market Road, Pai Market Road, DB Road, Lighthouse ground, Subramaniam Road, Venkata Krishna Road, Thudiyalur Road, and Poosaripalayam Road. Parking is prohibited along this route during the procession.

The police have requested the public to cooperate with these traffic arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the Vinayagar idol immersion procession.
