A mysterious individual was captured on CCTV stealing a mobile phone from a private hostel room in broad daylight in Coimbatore's Peelamedu area, raising concerns about security in the city.

Coimbatore: A daring daylight theft has been reported at a private hostel in Coimbatore, where an unidentified person was caught on CCTV stealing a mobile phone from a resident's room.

The incident occurred at Lovely Nestmen's, a private hostel located in the Peelamedu area of Coimbatore. Praveen Kumar (22), a resident from Tirunelveli district, was staying at the hostel while attending coaching classes at a nearby TNPSC training center.

On the day of the incident, Praveen Kumar was taking a nap in his hostel room during the afternoon. Upon waking up, he discovered that his mobile phone was missing. A review of the CCTV footage revealed a startling scene: an unknown person was seen stealthily entering the room, snatching the mobile phone, and making a quick exit.

Armed with the CCTV evidence, Praveen Kumar filed a complaint at the Peelamedu Police Station. The police have registered a case and launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the thief based on the surveillance footage.
