Coimbatore Collector Releases List of Approved Locations for Vinayagar Idol Immersion

Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati has advised the public and organizations to immerse Vinayagar idols only in designated areas across the district on September 8, 2024.


Coimbatore: The Coimbatore District Collector, Kranthi Kumar Pati, has issued a press release on September 8, advising the public and organizations to immerse Vinayagar idols only in approved locations across the district. The Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board, Coimbatore Police Commissioner, and District Superintendent of Police have been informed about the disposal of eco-friendly idols by the public and organizations.

The approved locations for idol immersion include Muthannan Kulam, Bhavani River (at Sirumugai, Pazhathotam, Elagampalayam, Mettupalayam Subramaniar Temple, and Thekkampatti), and Ambarampalayam River (at Anamalai and Kaalipaak Goundanputhur). Other designated areas are Noyyal River (Ravuthur division), Achan Kulam, Neelampur, Upparu (near Anamalai Triangle), Nadumalai River, Valparai, Sadivayal, Valayar Dam, Kurichikkulam, Kuniyamuthur Kulam, Singanallur Kulattheri, Vellakkinaru Kulam, and Nagarajapuram Kulam.

Additional locations include PAP Canal (Centenary Division), Samalapuram Kulam (Tiruppur District), PAP Canal at Kediamedu (Tiruppur District). The public is instructed to immerse Vinayagar idols only in these specified locations. Furthermore, the idols should be transported only through routes permitted by the police.

The District Collector's announcement aims to ensure a systematic and environmentally responsible celebration of the Vinayagar Chaturthi festival while maintaining public order and minimizing pollution in water bodies.
