Coimbatore district prepares for Vinayagar Chaturthi with 708 idols to be installed across various locations. 3,500 police personnel will be deployed for security during the festival celebrations.

Coimbatore: As Vinayagar Chaturthi approaches, Coimbatore district is set to witness the installation of 708 Vinayagar idols across various locations. To ensure the smooth conduct of the festival, authorities have planned to deploy 3,500 police personnel for security duties.

In Coimbatore city, various Hindu organizations will install Vinayagar idols at designated places. Residents are also expected to set up smaller idols within their residential complexes. Given the significant number of idols being installed, organizers have been instructed to install CCTV cameras at these locations and maintain 24-hour volunteer presence.

For added security, one police officer will be stationed at each idol location within the city limits. From Saturday morning, 2,000 police personnel will be engaged in security duties.

While some Hindu organizations and the public have decided to immerse the idols in water bodies on Saturday evening itself, several prominent Hindu groups have planned processions for later dates. The Hindu Munnani, Vishva Hindu Parishad, BJP, Hindu Makkal Katchi (Tamil Nadu), Bharat Sena, and other Hindu organizations will conduct idol processions on the evening of September 9. During this event, 397 Vinayagar idols will be immersed at various locations including Singanallur, Kurichi Kulam, Kuniyamuthur, Vellakkinaru, and Muthannankulam.

Additionally, Hindu Munnani, VHP, and various other Hindu organizations are set to conduct Vinayagar idol processions on the evening of September 11. Approximately 265 idols will be immersed at Muthannankulam on this day.

In the Coimbatore rural police limits, 1,532 Vinayagar idols are scheduled to be installed on Saturday morning. Police officials have stated that a total of 3,500 police personnel will be deployed for security duties across Coimbatore district, ensuring a safe and peaceful celebration of Vinayagar Chaturthi.
