Broad Daylight Machete Attack on Youth Near Udumalaipettai - Police Investigation Underway

A 29-year-old man was critically injured in a machete attack by his brother-in-law near Udumalaipettai, Tiruppur district. The incident occurred following a family dispute, sparking tension in the area.


Coimbatore: In a shocking incident, a youth was severely attacked with a machete in broad daylight near Udumalaipettai in Tiruppur district. The police have launched an investigation into the case, which has caused a stir in the local community.

Senthilkumar (33), a resident of Poolavadi Bommanayakkanpatti near Udumalaipettai, had been living with his family in Kamaraj Nagar, Podipatti for the past six years. He reportedly had a habit of coming home drunk and quarreling with his wife, Kalaichelvi.



Unable to bear the constant harassment, Kalaichelvi confided in her brother, Sathishkumar (29). On the day of the incident, Sathishkumar confronted Senthilkumar about his behavior. The conversation quickly escalated into a heated argument and physical altercation.

In a fit of rage, Senthilkumar grabbed a machete lying nearby and attacked Sathishkumar, inflicting deep cuts on his neck and hand. Bystanders rushed the critically injured Sathishkumar to the Udumalaipettai Government Hospital for first aid. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later referred to Coimbatore Government Hospital for advanced treatment.

Upon receiving information about the incident, the Udumalaipettai police rushed to the scene and conducted a preliminary investigation. They have also examined the area where the attack took place. Meanwhile, Senthilkumar has absconded, and the police have registered a case and launched a manhunt to apprehend him.

It is worth noting that Senthilkumar already has prior cases registered against him. The incident of a man attacking his brother-in-law with a machete for questioning his sister's mistreatment has caused significant tension in the Udumalaipettai area.
