Police Conduct Flag March in Pollachi Ahead of Vinayagar Chaturthi

Over 300 police personnel participated in a flag march through key areas of Pollachi to ensure security and boost public confidence ahead of Vinayagar Chaturthi celebrations.

Coimbatore: In preparation for the upcoming Vinayagar Chaturthi festival, the Pollachi police conducted a flag march on Wednesday to instill confidence among the public and ensure a peaceful celebration. The march, which saw participation from over 300 police personnel, covered major streets in Pollachi.

The flag march was flagged off by Krishnamoorthy, Additional Superintendent of Police, Coimbatore District, from the Gandhi statue area in Pollachi.

The procession moved through Udumalpet Road, passing by the Government Hospital, commercial streets, and proceeded via Venkatraman School and the Central Bus Stand. It continued along Palakkad Road before concluding at the Police Marriage Hall opposite the Municipality Office.

Authorities have granted permission for the installation of Vinayagar idols at 227 locations across Pollachi, organized by Hindu Munnani, other Hindu organizations, and the general public. However, some areas, including Sembagavundar Colony, have been identified as sensitive zones, prompting increased vigilance.

The flag march was led by Jayachandran, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Pollachi sub-division, and included inspectors, sub-inspectors, and armed reserve police personnel. This show of force aimed to alleviate any potential fears among the public and ensure a safe environment for the festival celebrations.

Police officials have announced that over 500 personnel will be deployed for security duties at various locations where idols will be installed, as well as at public places and temples throughout Pollachi. This extensive security arrangement is part of the efforts to maintain peace and order during the Vinayagar Chaturthi festivities.
