Coimbatore: On the occasion of the 153rd birth anniversary of V.O. Chidambaram, fondly known as Kappalottiya Tamizhan (The Tamil Helmsman) and Sekkizhutha Semmal (The Oil Press Champion), members of the Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi paid tribute to his memory at the Coimbatore Central Prison on September 5, 2024.
Party members and volunteers gathered at the prison complex to honor the freedom fighter's legacy. They garlanded V.O. Chidambaram's statue within the prison premises and also paid respects to the historic oil press, which stands as a testament to his sacrifice during the Indian independence movement.
