Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi Pays Tribute to V.O. Chidambaram Statue at Coimbatore Central Prison

Members of Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi honored V.O. Chidambaram's 153rd birth anniversary by garlanding his statue and the oil press at Coimbatore Central Prison on September 5, 2024.


Coimbatore: On the occasion of the 153rd birth anniversary of V.O. Chidambaram, fondly known as Kappalottiya Tamizhan (The Tamil Helmsman) and Sekkizhutha Semmal (The Oil Press Champion), members of the Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi paid tribute to his memory at the Coimbatore Central Prison on September 5, 2024.

Party members and volunteers gathered at the prison complex to honor the freedom fighter's legacy. They garlanded V.O. Chidambaram's statue within the prison premises and also paid respects to the historic oil press, which stands as a testament to his sacrifice during the Indian independence movement.

The event saw the participation of several party executives and dedicated volunteers, who showered flowers and offered their respects to the revered Tamil leader. The tribute ceremony highlighted the continued relevance of V.O. Chidambaram's contributions to the Indian freedom struggle and Tamil culture.
