Joint Director of Health Services Inspects Fever Wards at Pollachi Government Hospital

Dr. Rajasekharan, Joint Director of Health Services, Coimbatore, inspected the fever outpatient and inpatient wards at Pollachi District Government Headquarters Hospital today, reviewing preparations for the monsoon season.

Coimbatore: Dr. Rajasekharan, the Joint Director of Health Services for Coimbatore district, conducted an inspection of the fever outpatient and inpatient wards at the Pollachi District Government Headquarters Hospital today.

The primary focus of the inspection was to assess the hospital's preparedness for the anticipated increase in viral and dengue fever cases during the ongoing monsoon season.

During the inspection, it was revealed that the Pollachi District Government Headquarters Hospital has allocated 50 inpatient beds specifically for fever patients across the pediatric, women's, and men's medical wards. The hospital's outpatient department is currently receiving between 50 to 100 fever patients daily, while 10 to 20 patients are being admitted as inpatients each day for fever-related illnesses.

The hospital follows a comprehensive approach to fever management. Upon arrival, patients undergo blood tests to determine the specific type of fever, allowing for prompt and appropriate treatment. The facility is well-equipped to provide necessary care, including the administration of hot water, rice porridge, and Nilavembu Kashayam (a herbal concoction) to fever patients. For those experiencing significant fluid loss, inpatient admission is arranged, and glucose is administered intravenously.

Dr. Rajasekharan also reviewed the availability of essential medicines and tablets to ensure the hospital has an adequate supply to meet the increased demand during the monsoon season. This inspection is part of the health department's proactive measures to combat the potential surge in fever cases and maintain effective healthcare services in the region.
