Coimbatore: The Tirupur district administration and Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board conducted a public hearing regarding the reopening of stone quarries in Morattupalaiyam village, Uthukuli taluk. The meeting took place at a private hall in Morattupalaiyam on Tuesday.

The purpose of the hearing was to gather public opinion on renewing licenses and restarting quarry operations in the area. Officials from the district administration presided over the meeting, which saw participation from local residents with differing viewpoints.

One group of attendees strongly opposed the reopening of quarries, citing environmental concerns. However, another section of residents from Morattupalaiyam emphasized the importance of quarries for their livelihood.
