Coimbatore: District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati addressed the media after inaugurating the 'Poshan Abhiyan' nutrition exhibition in Coimbatore. He responded to questions regarding the sexual harassment case at Valparai Arts and Science College.

The Collector stated that based on a complaint received by the Women's Commission, social welfare department officials visited the college for investigation. He revealed that charges were filed against four individuals, although the main accused was not present. Following a complaint filed by the DSO (District Social Officer), all four accused were arrested and a case was registered against them. Pati warned that the government would take strict action against such incidents.

Kranthi Kumar Pati announced that at 3 PM today, all higher education institutions and schools in the state would receive guidelines on sexual harassment awareness and prevention measures through video conferencing. He mentioned that continuous awareness programs are being conducted in Coimbatore district, and strict actions are being taken on complaints.

The Collector highlighted ongoing awareness initiatives by the police department, including the 'Police Akka' program in urban areas and the 'Pallikoodam' scheme in rural areas. He also mentioned that the city police have requested CCTV cameras to be installed in government buses, and applications have been made to fit CCTV cameras in government school classrooms. Pati said these applications would be collectively submitted under the 'Safe City' Nirbhaya Fund.
