Hindu Makkal Katchi members staged a protest in Annur, Coimbatore, holding Vinayagar idols, opposing the denial of permission to install the idols. The demonstration was led by party founder Arjun Sampath on August 31.

Coimbatore: Members of the Hindu Makkal Katchi staged a protest in Annur on Thursday (Aug 31), carrying Vinayagar idols. The demonstration was organized to condemn the denial of permission to install Vinayagar idols in the area.

Led by Hindu Makkal Katchi founder Arjun Sampath, the protesters held Vinayagar idols in their hands as they participated in the agitation. The event saw participation from several party members, including Kutti alias Rajendran, Santhosh, and Sivakumar.

The protest comes in the wake of authorities refusing permission for the Hindu Makkal Katchi to install Vinayagar idols in public spaces. The party views this as an infringement on their religious rights and has chosen to voice their dissent through this demonstration.

This incident highlights the ongoing tensions between religious groups and local authorities regarding the installation of religious idols in public spaces. The Hindu Makkal Katchi's protest in Annur is likely to draw attention to the broader issue of religious expression and the regulations surrounding it in Tamil Nadu.
